first time IUI

Oh Ladies, I am so sorry about your BFNs. I was really hoping for you both.
Budgetgirl, I know it is frustrating to wait but perhaps there is a reason you've run out of clomid and need to wait a bit. You can tell me to F off, if you like, but just putting it out there. Sometimes the things that drives us most crazy make a whole lot more sense down the road. Hoping this is one of those times...
Anway, please know that I have been thinking of you both and really hope you get your little babies soon, however they come to you.

Thanks for the comments. I do believe everything happens for a reason....it is just not always apparent in the heat of the situation. I was able to get my clomid so we're set up for a cycle this month - our last one before we have to take a break off clomid. Planning to do a double IUI because I read a study that got double pregnancy rate when using frozen donor sperm and doing back to back IUIs. We figure we may as well give it our best shot before we take a break, and if it works, is cheaper than IVF.

Practicing Patience - how are you doing? What day are you on this cycle? I'm on Day 8, usually don't ovulate until about Day 20 and just trying to keep busy and keep my stress levels down.

i am ok - hubby and i have been in Radium/Invermere since last Wed. having a little vacation so i feel pretty good. i'm on day 11 today. our last IUI should be sometime this week depending when we get the 'ol happy face on the OPK. i have to be honest, my hopes and spirits this time are pretty low, just can't bring myself to be optimistic for some reason this time. Had hubby give a new frozen sample early last week so we are ready to go if he is away this week. Clomid has given me the usual hot flashes (not fun when golfing in +29 weather!!) and today i have been crying at the drop of a hat. so we'll just play the week out and see what happens i guess.
how are you?

Glad to hear you were able to get away for a vacation. Nice to be distracted for a bit. Sorry to hear you're feeling the side effects from the clomid....I hate the hot flashes. Mine haven't been too bad this month, but at least if you're feeling symptoms you know the clomid is doing something.
I know what you mean about how it is hard to try and remain hopeful. If there is one thing I've learned going through the roller coaster we've been on during our fertility journey is that you can't protect yourself from the pain of disappointment...regardless of how high you get your hopes up, it feels just as crummy on the other side....so it's a lot more fun to at least experience the high hopes than trying to guard yourself from getting your hopes up.

Keep me posted on how you're doing....if I remember correctly, you're an early ovulator. Have you been going for acupuncture during your IUI cycles?

Hopefully you'll be later this week? I'm expecting we'll be the end of next week, but this morning my Ovacue Fertility Monitor was saying that this Friday is expected to be my "most fertile" day. I haven't used it for a full cycle last month, so I don't think it actually has enough information to figure that out and assume that is based on a Day 14 "textbook" ovulation, which I have never been (I'm a late ovulator). I'm going to start testing tomorrow just to be safe though because clomid can do funny things to your cycle. Been trying to keep my stress levels down....which makes this week a bust because I'm run off my feet busy at work and have been working long days....so hoping it won't be until next week when things calm down at work.

so... got the smiley face today, just waiting for the clinic to call back to schedule our IUI for tomorrow. In the meantime, got a call from my regular dr.'s office telling me that my annual pap came back abnormal. i had some pre-cancerous cells 3 years ago and was followed by the women's health clinic at the foothills for a year after they removed them. it was when we got the "all clear" results that my husband suggested that we start trying to have a family. how can we be back here again? it really feels like the universe is loudly telling me that being a mother is not in the cards for me. will see what the RFP nurses suggest about the timing of getting pregnant now. i can't believe that my body is betraying me this way. what an absolutely crap-tastic day.

Oh no....so sorry to hear about your pap results. Hopefully it's nothing....I had a pap about a month ago and it was inconclusive or something so I was supposed to repeat sometime in a few months. I was talking with a friend about it at the time and she knows of someone who had an abnormal pap come back during pregnancy and it didn't affect the pregnancy and she has a healthy baby now. Did you end up going for the IUI today?

I also surged yesterday so we went for an IUI this afternoon. Feeling a little crampier than I have with past IUIs...although hoping some of the twinges are actually ovulation pain. Going for a 2nd IUI tomorrow.
